A Life Rooted in Creativity and Faith

Creativity has always been woven through my life.

From a young age I was surrounded by women who created with care and intention. One grandmother patiently taught me how to sew, while the other shared her love for baking and preparing things that would bless the people around her. My mother encouraged me to dream boldly and pursue the gifts God placed in my heart, while my father has always offered steady wisdom and guidance along the way.

Today my husband continues to sit through many brainstorming sessions, patiently listening as the next creative idea begins to unfold.

These influences shaped the way I see creativity — not simply as a hobby, but as something deeply meaningful. Creating is one of the ways we reflect the heart of our Creator, bringing beauty, order, and care into the world around us.

I live in South Africa, a country rich in natural beauty and full of possibility for creatives. The landscapes, gardens, and quiet rhythms of everyday life here often inspire the patterns and collections I create.

Creative Faith Studio was born from this intersection of faith and creativity — the belief that the gifts we have been given are meant to be cultivated and shared.

What I Create

Surface Pattern Design for Quilting & Home

Today my work centers around surface pattern design, with a special love for developing fabric collections for quilting and home textiles.

Many of my designs begin with small observations in nature — winter branches reaching toward the sky, delicate flowers unfolding in the garden, the quiet rhythm of leaves and grasses moving in the wind. These details slowly grow into repeating patterns that work together as coordinated collections.

When I design a collection, I carefully consider how the prints will live together on fabric — balancing expressive florals with supporting patterns and gentle tonal designs that help quilters build beautiful projects.

What excites me most is imagining the life these fabrics will have beyond the design stage. Quilts stitched with care, handmade pieces shared with loved ones, and objects that become part of family homes for years to come.

I’m especially drawn to creating heirloom-inspired designs — patterns that feel timeless and warm, the kind of fabrics that might be used today and still cherished by the next generation.

Creativity as a Calling

At the heart of Creative Faith Studio is a simple belief:

We were created by a creative God, and when we create, we reflect something of His nature.

There is something deeply peaceful about the act of making — whether that’s drawing, painting, sewing, or designing patterns. It’s often in those quiet moments of creating that many of us feel closest to God.

Perhaps you’ve experienced that feeling too.

Maybe it’s the calm that settles in as your brush moves across the page.
Maybe your energy lifts when you begin imagining a new project.
Or perhaps you simply feel alive when you are shaping something beautiful with your hands.

If that sounds familiar, then you may already recognize that gentle calling toward creativity.

For as long as I can remember, I have spent hours drawing, sewing, planning, and making things that would encourage or uplift the people around me. Creativity has been a way of celebrating life — of taking the beauty found in God’s creation and reflecting it back into the spaces where we live and gather.

Imagine how different the world would feel without art, color, and pattern. Creation itself is filled with extraordinary design — in the symmetry of flowers, the textures of leaves, the rhythm of seasons. It feels only natural that we are drawn to echo that beauty in the things we make.

Encouraging Other Creatives

As my own creative journey has grown, so has my desire to encourage other artists who feel drawn toward this path.

Through the workshops, courses, and resources here at Creative Faith Studio, I love helping creatives explore the world of surface pattern design and begin discovering what might be possible for their own creative gifts.

Building a creative life often requires both courage and patience. We learn by experimenting. We grow through refining our work. And sometimes the most meaningful progress comes from gently letting go of what doesn’t work so that something better can take shape.

My hope is to help creatives see that their gifts matter — and that creativity can open doors to opportunities they may not have imagined yet.

A Final Thought

At the heart of everything I create is a deep gratitude for the beauty God placed into this world.

Patterns remind us that creation itself is full of rhythm, structure, and artistry. When we design, sew, paint, or make something with care, we participate in that beauty in our own small way.

Through my work, I hope to create patterns that bring warmth into homes, inspire creativity in others, and celebrate the richness of God’s creation.

If you share a love for beautiful design, meaningful creativity, and the quiet joy of making something by hand, then I’m so glad you’re here.

Creative Faith Studio exists to celebrate creativity as a gift — one that can bring beauty, purpose, and encouragement into the world.
