I’m Martie Erasmus,
artist, surface pattern designer, and founder of Creative Faith Studio. Around here, we talk about sustainable creativity, creative growth, and learning to create from what we’ve been blessed with.

As I sat in my garden recently with my sketchbook in hand, I found myself reflecting on how differently nature operates from the world around us.
The flowers aren’t competing with one another.
The birds aren’t worried about falling behind.
Nothing in the garden seems rushed or anxious.
Everything grows according to the season and purpose God designed for it.
Yet as creatives, we often live very differently.
We compare ourselves to other artists.
We worry we’re not moving fast enough.
We feel pressure to produce more, achieve more, and somehow prove ourselves.
I’ve certainly fallen into that trap more times than I would like to admit.
Over the years, God has been teaching me that creativity was never meant to be driven by fear, comparison, or scarcity. Instead, He invites us to create from a place of trust, peace, and abundance.
In my newest article, I explore:
• Why comparison quietly fuels a scarcity mindset
• How fear can disguise itself as productivity
• Why creativity is more like a garden than a warehouse
• The habit that has helped me protect my creative confidence
• How to recognise when you’re creating from abundance instead of fear
If you’ve ever felt behind, overwhelmed, or discouraged in your creative journey, I hope this article encourages you.

One of my favourite reminders while writing this piece was Psalm 23:1:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.”
What a beautiful truth to carry into our creative work.
May you find joy in creating from what you’ve been given.
Warmly,
Martie
